Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, born on April 16, 1940, is a distinguished Nigerian politician currently serving as the senator for the Bauchi North Senatorial District. His election to this position occurred during the 2019 general elections under the All Progressive Congress (APC) banner. He is also noted for his academic background, being an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University.
In 2020, Bulkachuwa became involved in a controversy alongside Bauchi South Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau. The issue centered around the execution of youth and women skill training constituency projects, particularly concerning their quality and the financial resources allocated to them. In 2019, his office received approximately ₦169 million for projects aimed at skill acquisition training and empowerment in his district’s seven local government areas: Zaki, Shira, Jama’are, Gamawa, Katagum, Giade, and Itas/Gadau. However, the programs, similar to those run by Gumau’s office, faced criticism for being inadequate and not commensurate with the funds received. Investigations revealed that about 70 individuals, all linked to the local APC leadership, received brief six-hour vocational training sessions in Azare. The situation escalated when Bulkachuwa’s legislative aide, Buba Shehu Gololo, issued a life-threatening warning to a journalist attempting to interview program participants, claiming to relay a direct message from Senator Bulkachuwa that interviewing anyone involved in the project would be at the interviewer’s own risk.
On a personal note, Bulkachuwa is married to Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, the former President of the Nigeria Court of Appeal, Abuja. Together, they have three sons: Kabiru, Bashir, and Aminu.
